I was actually a bit surprised I liked this book and this series, but it was cheap and highly rated so I thought that I would give it a try. What I found was a fantastic creative story with many different plot lines intersecting with one another. The characters are diverse and quite different and new, some are even criminals but they are incredibly likeable (except of course for the bad ones.) They all share a common goal and are taking the requisite steps to get there. In fantasy story lines some times get very repetitive but I found this story well-written and new. Elena as the main lead is fascinating to watch grow up from a silly girl into an incredibly powerful woman (definitely a good book for females.)I wouldn't say this book is for young ones, possibly teenagers (hopefully later ones.) In later books, it gets a bit gross and disturbing at times. Usually by then you are too invested to stop reading though, I just thought I would mention it.
