Union in Truth is a well written and engaging history of the Restoration Movement from its beginning to the early 1990’s. North writes from a conservative Christian Church perspective. The thesis of the book is that the Restoration Movement was built on the twin principles of Christian Union and Biblical Authority. How those within the Restoration Movement have balanced these two goals is the story that North guides us through.Since the book focuses on a conservative Christian Church perspective, the non-instrumentalist wing of the RM are basically ignored during the latter portion of the book dealing with the 20th century. I would have liked to have more details, but that would have made the book much longer to include everything.I found this book to be a page-turner. It provides enough quotes to give an idea of what the people were actually saying, but avoids becoming dry or unwieldy. I highly recommend this book as a balanced, middle of the road history of the Restoration Movement. There are many references to other histories and biographies for the interested reader to take note of and pursue.
